Buncher Resort and Hospitality Group, LLC, the new owner of the 1,500-acre family
resort, is putting the finishing touches on upgraded facilities for the 2008 golf season.
Designed by golf course architect Russell Roberts, the public course sits atop a
near 3,000-foot summit in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands. The design of the par
72, 6,589-yard 18-hole course captures the beauty of its mountain setting, offering
golfers breathtaking vistas and challenging terrain. The new owner started renovations
to the championship course last year.
Recognizing the club's potential, Buncher enlisted Valley Crest, a national golf
maintenance company, to maintain and condition the grounds even before it closed
the deal on the property. Fast forward to spring 2008, after further renovations,
the facilities are shipshape. The clubhouse, locker rooms and pro shop sport fresh
paint, new carpeting and exterior landscaping.
Hidden Valley's new head professional, Craig Yutzy, 39, is excited for the season
and his role at the rejuvenated golf club. "I'm eager to meet everyone and encourage
folks to stop out and see the improvements on and off the course," said Mr. Yutzy.
"We're committed to providing exceptional service and outings on the links." A member
of the PGA since 1995, Mr. Yutzy is a native of Meyersdale, Pa. Prior to Hidden
Valley, he was the golf professional and general manager of Oakbrook Golf Course
in Stoystown and held posts at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Somerset Country Club.
Hidden Valley's Golf Club offers custom club fitting, cleaning and repairs, rentals,
a driving range, putting green and bag service. Professional instruction includes
private group clinics and junior camps. The pro shop will be fully stocked with
top makers of men's and women's sportswear. Mulligan's bar and grill will have an
updated look and menu complete with an outdoor grill.
On the course, there will be additional landscaping along narrow tree-lined fairways.
Every tee will have a boulder and granite markings. New colored flags and pins will
be located on the greens and fountains are being installed in the ponds to improve
visibility.
The greens fees at Hidden Valley are $45 weekdays and $55 weekends for 18 holes
plus golf cart fees. There are afternoon and daily specials. Special lodging, multiday,
weekend and group packages are also available. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays
and 7 a.m.to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Tee times are recommended. For
