Ski Improvements Abound at Hidden Valley.

Inspired by cutting-edge snowmaking prevalent in Europe and in top ski resorts, Hidden Valley will boast fully automatic snowmaking on three slopes, powered in part by 30 new TechnoAlpin M18 automatic snow guns and new snow pipes. Equipped with onboard weather stations, the pole mount fan guns are engineered to produce ‘carvable' snow. Each snow grain has low water and higher air content, making it ideal for grooming. Skiers will feel their edge with two new Pisten Bully snow groomers and a Zaugg half pipe cutter on the prowl. The snowcats work with onboard computers and an advanced blade and tiller system that digs deeper in the snow to create a better surface. Skiers will also enjoy rides to the top of the slopes aboard new chairs on two triple chairlifts.

A first for the region is the addition of an Emmegi Loading Conveyor at the North Summit quad. The conveyor moves at about half the speed of a regular chairlift (about 450 feet per minute) to ensure safe and more efficient loading. Widely used in Europe, the conveyors are ideal for beginners and children.

From positioning mighty snow guns on the mountain to the attention to detail off-mountain –making stairs deeper for ski boots, installing new racking systems and improving the flow for rentals – the improvements are designed with skier safety and service in mind. "We are working to make the experience for beginners to experienced skiers and families enjoyable and our highest priority at Hidden Valley," says Bill Doring. The new owner has also replaced 60% of rentals, stocking Elan skiis and bindings; Dalbello ski boots; Atomic snowboards and Salomon snowboard boots; and new poles and Boeri helmets.

Among the improvements proposed for 2008 are further enhancements to the ski facilities, including the installation of a new quad chair lift (to replace two doubles), additional automated snowmaking, and new slopes and trails at the Outback.
